Climate Change Impacts on Indian Agriculture: Role of Information Diffusion, Technological Development and Multiple Stresses
Project Team: Dr. K. S. Kavikumar.
Time Period: 2006 - 2008
Sponsored by: South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE).
Project Summary:
Bringing together two of most important issues that may concern Indian agriculture in future - namely global climate change and globalization, this study attempts to analyze the sensitivity of agricultural system to the external stresses while explicitly accounting for spatial and temporal aspects. The motivation for exploring these aspects is based on the premise that social interactions (across space) as well as technological changes (over time) could matter in determining the sensitivity (and hence vulnerability) of entities/regions. Focus on multiple stressors is to account for potential conflict between the responses by the entities it different stressors.
