Water Institutions and Sustainability
Seven projects under this theme deal with issues related to
economic, ecological sustainable water resource management aspects.
The projects address the issues at multiple levels viz. designing
methodologies for evaluation of ground water depletion and quality
degradation in Karnataka, application of advanced research tools
like GIS and remote sensing for water resource management and policy
making in Andhra Pradesh, economic and environmental impacts of
drinking water supply in rural areas, and watershed development,
pricing of irrigation water in Kerala, effects and evaluation of
physical, economic and environmental performance of traditional
water harvesting systems and market, policy and institutional
failure in water management.
